Airport '77 (1977)

I remember going to the pictures and seeing this film - the sequel to Airport and loosely based on the 1965 film adaptation of The Flight Of The Phoenix. It had some big names in it including James Stewart and Christopher Lee. In a plot a bit like Titanic, Airport '77 involved a luxury Boeing 747 filled with wealthy travellers which is then hi-jacked by a bunch of thieves, who release sleeping gas and the plane begins to plummet into the Bermuda Triangle fog until it crashes. Some die in the crash while others fight to survive the wreckage. Edge of seat stuff!

I remember there being controversy over it's release date, which was uncomfortably close to the Tenerife airport disaster (the worst one in aviation history to date).
