Escalado

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Escalado was a horse racing game where you had to strap the course tight to a table and then you turned a handle to make it vibrate and make the metal (lead?!) horses race. You could put bets on to win money. You can still buy it now but the horses are plastic and not the same.

When I was growing up in Cheshire in the 1940s and 1950s my parents owned Escalado. We use to play it usually at Christmas time. It was a lot of fun. I didn't know it was still around and I have never met anybody else who owned the game.
