Heroquest was a cross between a boardgame and a tabletop game such as Warhammer. It had four heroes battling through different dungeon scenarios in pursuit of fame and gold. They were pursued by monsters controlled by a fifth player.

The look and feel was very compulsive (the UK and US versions looked a bit different) and the slight crudity of the images gave it even more charm :) You really felt hemmed in when you were in a room with half a dozen villains and the doorway was blocked.

    I remember the advert to this and I thought that if I played this I'd turn into a monster.

    i absolutly loved this game , i also had space crusade too which was just as good. we used to spend the entire summer holidays playing them both in my garage , i remember one summer when we joined the two games together, i dont think we ever did finish that game.
