Tintin on the Moon

Tintin on the Moon was a ladders-and-levels type game for the Spectrum +2. The story was that Tintin was trying to reach the moon by rocket but fell victim to an intruder called Boris along the way. Snowy the dog and I think Captain Haddock also featured, but didn't seem to do much. It was quite well-realised, for the time (c.1990). The game alternated between flying the rocket through space, where you had to gain energy by driving it into yellow spheres while avoiding red spheres and meteors; and the ladders-and-levels stages where Tintin was seen running around inside the rocket. During this latter stage he had to find and defuse bombs while avoiding an ambush from Boris, who would suddenly appear and jump on him, with a sound effect that went chipper-chopper-chup! No, really. You could prevent this by finding a fire extinguisher and squirting him, which temporarily knocked him out. Once you'd done all you had to (which wasn't always clear), you were suddenly jolted back into the space sequence. There was five of each stage, growing progressively harder. Once you'd done all ten stages, you saw the rocket land safely with the words: "Congratulations. Tintin has made it to the Moon." There were no lives to lose - you simply had to try and complete the entire game before the time ran out! It was a game that would have felt more at home on a Sega or Nintendo than the Spectrum, but was well-made for the time and great fun to play.
