Then Jerico

Then Jerico were a rock band who had a small amount of success in the late 80s. Their first single 'Muscle Deep', got to Number 85 in 1986, and it wasn't until their 4th single 'The Motive' that they reached the top 20 - Number 18 to be precise. Their only other top 20 single was 'Big Area' which got to Number 13.

After 8 singles Then Jerico just disappeared although I see that they are still performing now. Looking back I thought that they were a much bigger band than that. They had two fantastic albums 'First - the sound of music' in 1987 and 'The Big Area' which got to number 4 in the album charts - in 1989. The lead singer was (and still is) Mark Shaw. He was absolutely beautiful and everyone in my class at school had a crush on him. He had a gorgeous voice too and its sad that he's been forgotten. Check out Youtube for eighties music at its best

Fantastic band, fantastic songs. Still play them now at top volume and sing along. Sadly my schoolgirl crush on Mark Shaw has stayed in my memory box - wouldn't look twice at him now - Sorry Mark :)

hi yes i still listen to big area,i still love it now.met them in 1989 after they had played at the royal concert hall nottingham.they all went for a drink in the penthouse bar in the royal hotel and i managed to get in.mark shaw sat on his own but the rest of the band were great and dead friendly.so when they split it didnt surprise me.i think fame went to marks head, what a shame.
