Hickory House was just a normal house, where everything was alive, stimulated children's imaginations and was educational and fun.

Humphrey Cushion and Dust Mop starred alongside human presenters such as Amanda Barrie (Alma in Coronation Street), Alan Rothwell and Louise Hall-Taylor.

Hickory House was first aired in 1973 and ran for a hundred episodes.

    I certainly remember Hickory House and I would have been about two or three when it first started in 1973, I was quite scared of Humphrey Cushion,although not, I hasten to add of Raggerdy from Rupert The Bear, in fact all the puppets on that show were dreadful, while I am here, can anyone explain what Pongping was supposed to be, I reckon a Dog but I could be getting mixed up with PC Growler who I definitely know was a Dog.

    I had a real crush on Louise Hall-Taylor when I was 8! I fell in love with her when she was in Bethlehem on Watch!!!

    Thank goodness other people remember this. My firends can't and though I was going mad when I talked of a house where all the stiuff inside could talk. Brings back memories but makes me feel sooooo old. I wish it would be brought out on DVD.

    I Never saw Hickory House but i remember Humphrey Cushion as we had photo's of him at home with my Mum Loiuse Hall-Taylor! I thought he was a bit scary. I would love to know who named the kids after me or my sis, and which name did you choose??!!

    I have very fond memories of this show. I also knew Louise Hall Taylor and her two daughters when she used to live near me. I even took my daughter's name from one of hers! Great show, I'd love to see an episode. Humphrey Cushion was my favourite. BRING BACK HICKORY HOUSE!

    I,m so glad other people remember Humphrey Cushin,just like everyone here,my friends thought i was making this guy up.a classic childrens tv charachter,,what more do you need in your life but a talking cushion,,,,vindictated at last,thanx for the memorys
