Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast was a TV series from 1987 in which the creator, Ron Koslow, adapts the classic fairytale in a modern environment.

Vincent was the 'beast' who lived in an underground world with other outcasts, and Catherine was the 'beauty' a District Attorney assistant.

Catherine was helped by Vincent, when in danger, and Vincent always seemed to know when she needed him. Catherine fell in love with Vincent despite him being ugly and she realises that beauty can be found within.

Great storytelling and a good message too.

I remember loads of women thought Vincent was so incredibly "dreamy" -- then they saw photos of Ron Perlman devoid of make-up and swiftly arrived at the conclusion that perhaps he wasn't so dreamy afterall. Too funny.

I was surprised to discover that the Beast was Ron Perlman. By the way, I cant remember if the Beast actually did anything other than hang around in a sewer.

Very odd drama-romance, most memorable for featuring Linda Hamilton before she muscled up for The Terminator. Which is why that's the only thing I can remember about it, other than the Beast's Fabio-style blond locks.
