Alpine Soft Drinks

The Alpine Soft Drinks man used to come round in a sort of converted milk float every week (Wednesday or Thursday), and sell these street by street back in the mid seventies. Alpine Soft Drinks were closer to Corona than Cresta, but they came in the most vivid colours and left you hyper all evening. Alpine Soft Drinks came in the usual flavours - Orangeade, Limeade, Lemonade, Cola, Cherryade and of course Dandelion and Burdock. As someone who worked for them for a short time I can remember one of the top sellers was American Cream Soda.

The Tamworth depot was actually in Polesworth next to the firestation. Can't remember the exact address. Can anyone remember the name of the pub over the road from the Chelmsley Wood depot? There were two trading companies Alpine Soft Drinks Ltd and Alpine Soft Drinks (Scotland) Ltd. Alpine started to go Franchise in the late 80's early 90's and Stan Crewe sold out to the Pedigree Group (who used to make the Cindy dolls). They pumped money into it to no avail and it went bump a few years later. I worked there from 1985 to 1990.

Hi, my dad worked for Alpine for many years all over England (Bradford, Cannock, Birmingham etc) and South Wales (was area manager) his name was Brian Lucas. My sister and I used to love going to work with him cos we always got free pop and a ride on the delivery vans, probably not the safest of idea's but back in the 70's nobody batted an eyelid...
