I remember your dad well I can actually picture him frm then as I write. I met him every time he came to the area manager meetings with everyone else at Chelmsley Wood. I was the Receptionist there frm 1973 for nxt 22yrs. I've been remembering so many people frm reading all the comments a lot of the Managers names I recognise and knew them. Lorraine

Hi Keith I remember you well from your Area manager meetings at Chelmsley everyone would pile into my reception office and I'd try and get on with answering the switchboard or work on the drivers accident forms for the insurers but mostly I just chatted and laughed until you all went into the meeting. Great times, great people but mostly great memories.Lorraine the Blonde Receptionist if you remember me

Yes I remember Pete Brookes if he's the guy who was an area manager. I used to see him and chat every time he was down in Birmingham Chelmsley Wood for meetings and sometimes I had to make the tea/coffee for them all and take it in to the boardroom, I used to get so embarrassed and blush I was scared I'd drop the trays lol. So yes I remember your dad

It was bought by Pedigree (Toys)for the Name actually as it was a limited company. Pedigree were working towards fazing the drinks out, hence the start of the Alpine Franchises that was the beginning of the end. I was Receptionist at Chelmsley frm 73' onwards then I was PA to Mick Collins for a short while then after 22 yrs made redundant along with Malcolm Lees, Sales Director and a few others at head office.. I think the building is still standing at Chelmsley Wood but I'm not sure what kind of business is there now. It's been great to read everyone's comments I'm loving it, glad I stumbled on to the site but it's sad to hear of those who've passed away like Wally Room, Alf Hunt, Joe Boyle and I imagine many more.

Do I remember.... omg. I was the Receptionist at Chelmsley Wood, The Head Office for 22 yrs so yes I do. I remember many of the names you've all mentioned, I'm still going through the comments at the moment. Hi Bill Reading I remember always scrounging a lift home to Marston Green after work. I remember many nights over at the Seven Stars pub across the road after the Monthly managers meetings or Board Meetings etc. Why is it all men remembering are any of us ladies still around out there. I stumbled on this site too I must have been having a nostalgic moment. To the guy who wanted to know the flavour of the brown pop I'm sure it was Irn Bru. The Cream Soda and Pineapple were my favs. I once worked a night shift on the production line at Chelmsley for Pete McAdam and Alf Hunt when we had that one and only strike at Alpine. I suppose you know Alf Hunt passed away a few years ago now, I went to the funeral and met a few old face. If anyone remembers Malcolm Lees, Sales Director he moved over to live in France yrs ago not sure if he's still there tho. Stan Crew I imagine may have passed away by now, I was in touch with him and Iris for a few years when he went to Florida. Joe Boyle also has passed away, maybe about 16 or 17 yrs ago now but it's great to know there's still a few of us still around with good memories of Alpine especially the big Turkey we were all given at Xmas. Anyway it's great to read the comments I'm going to be reading more very soon. Bye for now everyone. Lorraine
