Crissy Doll

The first Crissy "growing hair" doll was introduced in 1969 by Ideal Toys. She was an 18" redhead with black pupil-less eyes. Crissy's hair could flow all the way down to her ankles, or with a twist of a knob on her back, her tresses would 'magically' feed back into her head.

By the end of the first year of her production, for reasons unknown, her hair was changed to only grow down to just above her knees.

Ok, I was born in 1983, but my mom was born in the 60's and she named me after her Crissy doll.

I used to go to my grandparents to sleep over. My aunt had original Crissy & Velvet dolls. I used to love playing with them so much. When I grew up and had my own daughter, I asked my aunt, who doesnt have any children what ever happened to Crissy & Velvet, she said she threw them away. I was so disappointed. My daughter would love to play with them. Since hearing that not too long ago, I am in search of Crissy & Velvet dolls to purchase for my daughter.
