Treasure of the Pharaohs

Made by Palitoy this 3-dimensional board game of a pyramid is still a great game today. You explore the four chambers of the pyramid in search of the hidden treasure meeting hazards along the way, such as the pit of snakes and the great stone of Cheops. It's great for young children because the person in the lead doesn't always win the treasure. BEWARE THE CURSE OF THE PHARAOH. I played this game with my daughter and now her sons still think it's marvellous and what a great way to learn a little about the pyramids of ancient Egypt.

I had no idea this game was so rare and only found out when I was checking a couple of others. I have one which is complete including the instructions, really good condition but I wouldn't want to send it through the post as I don't trust any providers with something rare.

Does anyone have this game. I am prepared to pay £100.00 for it as my father played this when he was little so I wanted to get it for him to bring some happy memories back from his childhood.

I think it was introduced around '81, and was at first branded as dangerous because of fears that the 'curse of the Pharoah' bit could conjure up dark forces. Certainly there was controversy from the Church- I recall it being reviewed on ATV Today (as it then was) in the Midlands when Anne Diamond interviewed a worried cleric about it. Some people wouldn't buy it for their children because of fears around it's occult potential.

I remember playing this in the late 70's with a friend who owned it and have just come across one in a garage sale and got it for £2. Wonderful game. I have spent the last 30 years describing it to people but couldn't remeber the exact name. So glad I'm not mad and will enjoy playing it again.

I also remember having this game. My mum had some points from her local bingo hall in Fleetwood, Lancs. The bingo hall had a gift shop there, and she got me this game with her points. My cousin borrowed this game from me, having himself thinking it was a wonderful game. I never did get it back. I too would like to get hold of this game, and it would be brilliant if it could be produced again. My kids would love it. Kenny Hall, Fleetwood

I'm also late 30's and remember this game so well. It was the only present I got at Christmas that year, my BIG present! I kept the game in mint condition until mid 80s where it was stored in the garage and got damp.. the rest is history! However, picked up one from Ebay recently.. Aahhh such memories!

We got this as kids and we are now in our late 30's and trying to find one to buy. It was a great game, which we could play for hours. I just wish my Mum hadn't given it to the local bring and buy sale all those years ago.
