Me and my mate, Dave Smith, got some (probably from Eccles market, not sure); one pair was bright yellow and the other bright red. Feeling a little self-conscious, but determined to be avant- gard, we marched up towards Liverpool Road in Irlam. As we approached the main road we heard a loud wolf-whistle, from a passing motorist! We stopped, looked at each other, turned tail and ran home. After that we went to the chemist and bought some brown dye, lol!
