    Maragret Thatcher embodied a philosophy that was agressively against the welfare state as implemented in post-world war 2 Britain. Consequently the network of healthcare and housing that made life bearable for people on low incomes was destroyed and was replaced by a view that health, housing, transport and education are simply commodities.
