  • Farmer Browns Crisps
Spelling mistake, it was Mr George Quinn, he was originally from Laurelvale, Portadown and was involved with Tayto at the start but he left to start up Taste-Rite foods which went under the name of Farmer Brown crisps. The prawn cocktail was my favourite. The factory was in Shaerf Drive, Lurgan, Co. Armagh.

LOL, pig shaped, that is brilliant. I worked for Farmer Brown crisps for 14 yrs and it was going well until George Qinn the owner died of a heart attack. Unfortunately after that it run down badly because mainly from bad management and because of an economic down turn at that time. The main frying pan needed replaced and the company did not have the money to replace it. The firm never actually went bust George son, Paul, closed the doors one Friday and never opened them again. It was sad because if George would have been alive , Farmer Brown Crisps would still on the shelves. They made an assortment of crisps but there biggest sellers at the end were Loops, Frites, Barbeque Curls and Cheese Curls.
