Star Fleet

Star Fleet was a Japanese sci-fi puppet show similar to Jerry Anderson's "Terrahawks". The dubbed UK version of Star Fleet was shown on Saturday mornings on ITV in 1982.

Set in the year 2999, just after the end of Space War III, the Galaxy is war-torn but at peace... until, of course, the Solar System is invaded by the Imperial Alliance in search of a supreme being, the F-01. The experimental X-Bomber spacecraft and its young crew must discover the secret of F-01 and turn it against the Imperial Alliance or all will be lost.

There were four main puppet characters who each had a ship which, when conected together, became a robot called Di-X.

This was one of my favourite shows as a child growing up. An epic storyline, space battles, a giant robot and one hell of a good soundtrack. I was delighted when it was released a couple of years ago on DVD having had to rely on copies of the edited American videos. I would love to see if the original Japanese version was slightly different from what we saw in the UK.

Star Fleet had a big affect on me back when I watched it as a youngster, I absolutley loved the program. I know it might be sad thinking about it now, but I had a bit of a crush on Lamia LOL ...she wasn't bad looking for a piece of plastic :) ...anyway apart from that, this series also had a fabulous sound track, great looking ships and a good storyline. And, FINALLY, after all these years, its now available in a DVD Box set which is packed with lots of extra goodies, incuding posters and post cards! I'M IN HEAVEN!!

Manga puppets in space!; 24 episodes of Earth saving fun, (and much sexual innuendo when watched as an adult!) excitedly watched in the early 80's on a Saturday morning. From Japanese origins it included a big red gestalt robot, Dai-X, and an advanced prototype battlecruiser (the X-Bomber); humanity's last hope in the face of alien invaders. The commander of the alien ship was Commander Makara, and she had a symbiote which spoke for her when the imperial master appeared. Our heroes saving planet Earh were Shiro Hagen, Barry Hercules and Princess Lamia amongst others.
