Space Food Sticks

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Space Food Sticks was supposedly food you could buy that was the same as astronauts ate on their missions. They were a bit larger than the diameter of a pencil and were similar in consistency to a Tootsie roll. They came out about the same time as Tang was popular.

If one food was to define my childhood, Space Food Sticks would be it (followed by cola flavoured Sunnyboys). Reminds me of school holidays when they used to last forever and ever.

Food Sticks were made by Pillsbury and advertised as "the food that astronauts eat". They were these chewy sticks in flavors like chocolate and peanut butter... they did not taste good at all! Don't get me wrong, we still ate them because we all wanted to be astronauts... maybe we just should have focused on math and science instead... hmmmmmm...

Space Food Sticks ruled! I loved the Peanut Butter, but chocolate was good. I think there were 3 flavors: PB, chocolate, and caramel? I even remember where they were located in the Safeway we shopped at. Kinda like eating playdough...mmm mmm good!
