Sledge Hammer

Sledge Hammer was an air-headed cop who always seemed to beat crime by luck and with the help of his smart partner.

Sledge Hammer loved his big gun, which he had no problem using.

Sledge Hammer was played by David Rasche, Dori Doreau was played by Ann-Marie Martin (and co-wrote the movie Twister) and their long suffering boss, Capt. Trunk was played by Harrison Page. There were two seasons. At the end of season one, the entire cast and most of L.A were vapourised by a nuclear bomb which Hammer failed to defuse. The second series was set five years earlier.

Both seasons are available on DVD.

Hey I remember this! It was one of the first programmes aired when the "night network" (24 hour UK tv) started, along with programmes like "Get Stuffed" and "Night Bites", which always gave me the munchies! I hated missing even a single episode of Sledge, and I even developed the annoying habit of saying, "Trust me, I know what I'm doing!"

I can't believe that I am the only one who has posted a comment on this show, it was fantastic and really funny. A mickey take of the Dirty Harry films, it had a black humour. Usually shown late at night and I would try and get home from work (DJ at an hotel) in time to watch it. I'm going to get the dvd's and watch it all again. I specifically remember an episode where they went through a steam room and their clothes shrunk.......... well, Doreau's skirt was short enough as it was, by the time she came out of there...........! Anyway, it was a good series.
