Matching shirt and tie

Matching shirts and ties was a trend from the early-mid 70s - think Abigail's Party! These came as a set from probably most mid-price menswear shops. Obviously the tie was really wide, and the whole ensemble made of polycotton. They were normally light-coloured prints, I remember the one my Dad had was green trees and mountains on a cream background. He obviously thought he looked the bee's knees in it, and I think he kept the tie when the shirt had worn out.
