Manta Force and Red Venom

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Manta Force and Red Venom were 2 large space ships which, when opened up, had roughly 20 smaller space vehicles inside and loads of little purple spacemen! Manta Force was the "good" ship and Red Venom was the "evil" ship.

I wanted Red Venom SOOOOOO bad and my cousin had it ALL. I pestered my parents for months and come December 25th, there was a massive box under the Christmas tree... It was Red Venom!!! Upon opening the box, however, Bluebird Toys had sent out some with parts missing (The Hoverfly and one of the sleds were missing, and I thing one of the pods). I got a couple of days play out of it (The shops didn't reopen on Dec. 26th in the 1980's!) before it had to be returned to Woolworths. I was told there were no more in stock, so I could wait or choose something else with the £30 that Red Venom had cost... So my nine year old self bought a load of Bionic Six figures instead of waiting (WHY???!!!). Fast forward to 2007 and I finally bought one off eBay for £30, in near mint condition with all the bits. Thank you eBay!

I loved these. I so want to get the Manta Force ship for my son. I bought a load of Red Venom stuff off ebay last year but it is missing lots of parts. Great fun with toys that require a bit of imagination and doesn't rely on batteries and buttins to do everything for you.

I had the manta force ship in the picture above, and bloody loved it! although, at my nan's house, I decided it was a submarine and played with it in the bath... the poor white bloke who piloted it kept drowning! :0P

Had loads of these growing up, great fun making large scale wars with them, & there was always new units you could buy with huge turrets & ships! Good memories.
