Welsh rock band, 'The Manics' came to light during 1996, although they formed the band during the late 80's where they were a big part of the Cardiff music scene. This 3 peice band released their first single 'Suicide Alley' in 1988 but it wasn't until 1991, when they released their second single 'Motown Junk' did they enter the UK singles chart, this reached #96.

The band have remained prominent in the music industry throughout the years, releasing 10 studio albums, 3 compilation albums and 40+ singles to great commercial success.

Top ten singles include: 'Suicide is Painless' 'A Design for Life' 'Everything Must Go' 'Kevin Carter' 'Australia' 'If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next' 'You Stole the Sun From My Heart'

'The Manics' were inspired by 'The Clash' and politics. Their music has always been heavy on lyrical referencing and one band member suffered from depression for many years, it was believed that Richey Edwards later went on to commit suicide in 1995. Despite this set back, the band proved their staying power and have continued to release successful albums to date.
