Leo Sayer

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Leo Sayer was a little man with a lot of hair and amazingly lots of hits in the 70's and 80's in the UK and the US.

The hits I remember are "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" and "When I Need You".

I remember seeing him on Telly singing " The show must go on " in a clown outfit. My mother was not much into pop music, but for some reason he really grabbed her attention, in a positive way. So when it came to pop music she always referred to him, although she could never remember his name, just the clown man. Sorry Leo.

My mother had the original 7" single of 'Thunder In My Heart' from 1977, so I got to hear it YEARS before the song became fashionable again!

A real singles act, LS's Greatest hits had him walking up a wall on the sleeve & was/is a must in the record collection of any 40something. 'Moonlighting' , a ballad about an eloping couple, was my favourite tho there was a nice remix of 'Thunder in my Heart' earlier this year. LS has a very distinctive voice, pity he's not as productive as he once was.

We missed a chance of seeing Leo Sayer live. He was unheard of when he was backing Roxy Music at a gig in Bristol. and when we were told that Roxy Music were not performing we decided not to go in to see the support as we'd never heard of him.
