Flash Gordon (1980)

# Flash! Ah-ah! He'll save every one of us! #

Who can forget the fabulous Queen soundtrack to this over-the-top spaceromp? Featuring a bland (and dubbed) Sam Jones as Flash, the film is really stolen by the other performers camping it up for all they're worth, including Brian Blessed as Prince Valtan, a pre-James Bond Timothy Dalton as Prince Barin, and best of all for trivia fans, Blue Peter's Peter Duncan as some bloke who has to stick his hand in a tree of poison snakes.

Altogether now, top of your voice: "Gordon's alive?!"

Me and my brother use to love watching this. When it 1st premiered on TV, we watched it on Xmas morning whilst we opened our presents. Its one of those films,,that as kids you can watch it and then rewind it and watch it again,,,we use to do that with Star Wars and Sinbad Eye Of The Tiger.

Was Sam Jones really dubbed? What a swizz! I remember going to see this, when it first came out, in a packed cinema - people were even standing in the outside aisle - health and safety wouldn't go for that any more, eh? I liked the Football Game, in Mings' court room, the instrumental tune - 'B' side to the Flash Gordon theme, by Queen - was great.

I saw this at the cinema in Basildump. It was in the smaller room which only had a video type thing in it. The film before it was "burgers and Beans" and was pretty much about some kid cooking said items on a canal boat! Worth seeing this film for Brian Blessed's magic and Peter Duncan getting killed.

Has to be my all time favorite 80's movie of all time! I will watch it every chance I get. I use to imagine what it would be like to be in "Ming's world" and wear one of those esquisite costumes
