Evil Knievel

Evil Knievel was the greatest daredevil in the world. He was the insperation behind the Canadian character, Super Dave Osborne. One of my favourite toys as a child was the Evil Knievel stunt cycle. So how did it all start?

On New Year's Eve Day 1967, Evel Knievel jumped his motorcycle 151 feet over the fountains at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. 15,000 awestruck people watched live as he missed the landing. Millions more watched the carnage later on television. From thereon Evil became known as the world's greatest daredevil. 'He's known for saying God take care of me. Here I come.' Even legendary boxer Mohammed Ali once compared himself to Knievel, such was his reputation for bravado and determination.

Throughout the 70s, Evil was featured on all kinds of merchandise going. The Evil Knievel Stunt Cycle was their most popular toy at the time. But alwas came with that warning: Don't try this at home kids!
