An early Nicole Kidman film and some say, her best!
This is a tense thriller about a couple who go on a boating holiday in the middle of the Pacific Ocean in an attempt to recover from the death of their child. They encounter a mysterious shipwreck with only one survivor ? but is he all he claims to be?
A superb film - Nicole Kidman is the mother and Sam Neil is the military father, the two of them playing their parts with utmost conviction and being hardly out of the frame.
The backdrop is the 'dead calm' Pacific Ocean, which adds to the feeling of isolation and vulnerability, especially when the 'guest' from the shipwreck joins them.
