Cycling shorts

These monsterous 'cut of leggings' style clingy shorts were made from Spandex or cotton and were popular in the 80s. Coupled with a pair of rolled-down day-glo legwarmers and boot-style trainers, you looked like you were about to enter the London Marathon or at least have a bit part in Fame. Nobody looked good in them - although fans of linford Christie's 'lunchbox' may well disagree! I'm led to believe that GMTV's Mr Motivator still has a few pairs floating around, too.

grim. I actually didn't think leggins would do the rounds again as they have been for the last decade, not worn as trousers/pants anyway, we called them saddle bag holders "back in the day" and bugger me if they didn't have a big come back as they are doing now, cycle shorts were hideous but I wore them under skirts to prevent "chaffing" in the summer
