Birds Eye Crispy Cod Fries

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

When I was a little girl my mum would buy Bird's Eye Crispy Cod Fries every Friday. Bird's Eye Crispy Cod Fries were round pieces of cod covered in a crispy batter, they were so scrummy!

Kimgary, yes i also contacted Birdseye twice about the cod balls in smooth batter,to my knowledge it was not crispy batter but smooth.I tried to copy the batter by mixing self raising flour with a little salt and a dash of cooking oil,mix with milk and dash of water to a pancake type liquid, cut the cod into small pieces and fry for a couple of minutes then let cool, and then put them into the batter mix and partly fry for two minutes, then you can store them in fridge/or/freezer until you need to fry them with chips.

I actually contacted birds eye to see if they had the recipe for the cod balls, NO was the answer, in a time when every business is seeking new ways to make money you would think they would have the common sense to bring these back, children loved them and people who would not eat actuall fish fillets because of bones, maybe the person who had the recipe kept it to theirselves, come on birdseye do us and yourselves a favour bring them back.

Yes kimgary. I too remember them. We had them every week and they were better than anything else you could buy..leaving scampi a very poor second. I am amazed that a company would stop making them. If they were unprofitable they could have raised the price. I'm quite sure that people would still buy them.

BirdsEye are now making them again. I haven't tried them yet but you can get them in Morrisons. (not make with cod anymore, using Alaska Pollock) £2 for 26 fish bites
