1970's Nylon overalls

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Does anyone remember lady shop and factory workers wearing these swishy noisy nylon overalls, very popular in the 60's.I loved them in my school days and still love them now.

these things were called "house-dresses" in Scotland. My Gran often wore one at home especially when making scotch pancakes or hanging washing up on the "pulley"

I wear one of my nylon overalls everyday. Mine are check or gingham in different colours. Blue, light blue, pink, brown, and check ones with solid colour collars etc. Some are 3/4 sleeve and some long sleeve that I usually roll up. Usually wear over shirt blouse with sleeves rolled up and a denim skirt. Wearing pink blouse with light blue denim skirt now with light blue gingham overall over the top. The overall has 3/4 sleeves but my blouse sleeves roll up to them, if I roll them then together I find they don't fall down. My blouse collar, I wear over the overall collar. I think it looks very neat.

These are a very fond memory for me, mainly because my paternal grandma always used to wear them. She was doing so right up until she died at the end of'94, so was her sister and other of my elderly female relatives. We are all Welsh, and nylon overalls seem to have survived in Wales for a lot longer than in England. They were more or less standard uniform for older Welsh working class women up until quite recently.
