Unsolved Mysteries

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Unsolved Mysteries was a TV show from probably early/mid 70's. This was a series (I think) where Magnus Magnusson went round the country talking about creepy mysteries like screaming skulls, princes in the Tower etc. His accent suited the ghost stories just right. Very scary for a ten year old!

I used to love this program i still hum the theme tune and im 59 now .Ha ha. The tales were eerie and i specifically remember the prince's in the tower. Another about a person punished and dragged through the town in a drum, perhaos drawn and quartered. And another about strange bloody hand, or footprints that kept appearing on either a floor or wall... One of my most memorable favourite programmes back in the day. Glad someone posted this and barely anyone I know remembers it.

I have very fond memories of this programme. It was first broadcast in the autumn of 1971, in the children's TV slot on BBC1. I remember the theme tune, rather like an old folk song. Magnus presented the show in a set that looked like the interior of an old cottage with books on shelves and a fireplace. He sat in an old leather chair and introduced the subject for the week. I loved the edition on sea monsters, as it included clips from Ray Harryhausen's The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms.

I have been trying to trace info on episodes from this show. I couldn't even remember the title till I saw this forum chat, so thank you. I think there was an episode on the assassination of the Russian royal family, possibly the mystery surrounding Anastasia, but this is a vague memory. I also remember studio scenes in a library like setting. Really would like more details.

Yes, I loved this show. Summer holiday mornings. It's a mystery to me why there isn't anything on youtube and very little about it on line in general.

I think I remember this show, was it a kid's tea-time show...about 4:30 ish after school. All I can remember is part of the theme tune/song that went..."of histories and mysteries and..." I can sing those words in tune but you never see anything about the show.
