Tony Hawk

The hero of every skateboarding child in the eighties and nineties. Tony Hawk was the world's best skater and inventor of some of the coolest tricks such as the airwalk, stale fish and Madonna.

Tony Hawk also became the first person to successfully pull off a 900 degree spin (two and a half rotations).

Tony was the world's best skateboarder aged sixteen and has gone one to win 73 pro contests. Tony Hawk is still skating professionally today.

    A Nintendo Game Boy game was released called 'Tony Hawk's Pro Skater'- I have a copy, it looks fun but I can't play it too well as I don't have the instruction manual for it.

    the board the editor is talking about was, i think, the hawk claw design or the one with all the aztec circles on it? i'm not sure, it's a long time ago, but i think that was it.

    I think you'll find that it was Mike McGill who invented the Mctwist. McGill and Hawk skated for the same team, Powell Peralta, during the 80's. His early graphic was (originally enough) a hawk, then a hawk's skull.
