The Wizard was a movie that came out in 1989, Starring Fred Savage (Wonder Years).
I remember the first time I watched it and thought it was brilliant. It was supposed to be a 90 minute Nintendo commercial, but I don't think that was the case - it was actually a family movie.
The plot was that a boy and his two friends run away from home and hitch cross country to compete in a video game championship. As a NES owner (and a NES fan), I was fascinated when the movie showed a brand new game (at the time) Super Mario Bros 3. I had to have that game and the next day I rang up Nintendo and various game shops but nobody had it. It actually came out around 6 months later.
One of the infamous quotes in the movie is from Lucas Barton - "I love the PowerGlove...it's so bad!"
