The Tube

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

The Tube was the cool music show which put Top of the Pops in the shade! It was on Channel 4 on a Friday night, was live and presented by Jools Holland the late Paula Yates and Muriel Gray.

They were really out there with bands and interviews and being live TV there was a real edge to the show.

All of you with memories of The Tube should check out the DVD, best of The Tube Series 1. While it appeared incredibly hip at the time, it now looks incredibly amateurish. Not to put anyone off mind, the bands are still great but the presenting is dire. Still worth it for that great 80's music and fashion. And a time when the charts and TV's 4 channels were all encompassing of pop culture.

The only music show to even got close to the kudos of the Old Grey whistle Test, an eclectic mix of rock, dance, indie and pop, perfect in every way, apart form having Paula thingy as a host
