The Love Boat

The Love Boat was a fantasy variety hour. It starred Captain Stubing (Gavin MacLeod) - the strict, albeit loveable commander of the ship and the Activities Director Julie (Lauren Tewes) - the hubba hubba, often disappointed lovelorn crewmember.

There was, of course, Gopher (Fred Grandy) the bumbling, devil-may-care purser of the cruise (what is a purser anyway?). And who could forget Isaac (Ted Lange). He was the on-board gigalo with the women-folk passengers.

Is there a doctor in the house? Sure. Dr. Adam Bricker (Bernie Kopel) who was always reigning in Isaac and Gopher with over-obvious advise. And last, but certainly not least...Vicki (Jill Whelan) Captain Stubings nerdy and somewhat homely, daughter who blossomed into (wow) quite a looker!

The show was also constantly filled to the gunwhales (pronounced "gunnels") with the top echelon of Hollywood! Famous folk like Charro was a 'frequent flyer' on board. It became so popular that everyone who was anyone just HAD to be booked on the show. What the heck, they got a free cruise out of the deal too!
