The Hit Man And Her

This dross appeared on our screens around 1988-1992. Basically, the format was non-existant, it was filmed live from some club/disco upt' North and hosted by Pete Waterman and Michaela Strachan from Can You Do It On TV?. There was one feature called "Pass The Mic" where drunken yobs from the crowd would get up and attempt to sing along to the latest drivel from Pete's Hit Factory label PWL. I remember Odyssey making an appearance and they just looked like a couple of fat 50-somethings who needed their beds!

I remember it in '88 and '89; you're right, it was pretty dull. It would've been OK if it had just lasted for about an hour, but it didn't, it went on & on, and treated us to endless footage of tipsy clubbers dancing to the latest disco or acid hits (most of them released on Pete Waterman's own record label). The karaoke competitions etc. were painfully embarrassing to watch- I don't want to blast the show completely, since it did participate in some worthy charity fundraising events as well, and some of the live bands they had on weren't bad at all. Even so, it was probably much more fun for the participants than for the TV viewers.

I watched this show a few times out of boredom, and my only memory is that nothing much ever happened in it. Essentially it was just an advert for Pete Waterman's acts of the time.
