Talking Head Dolls

In the 70's, my sister and I had a doll with an enormous head and a tiny body called a Talking Head Doll, made by Mattel. You could pull the body away as it was on a draw string and as it pulled back up to the head it would say things like "I'm falling apart, woo hoo!", "Here comes my body" and other crazy things which still have us in fits of laughter when we talk about her now.

I used to drive everyone potty with one of these. I couldn't wait for the next voice so I'd pull the chord again and again and again!

I think they were called chatty sally or chitty chatty sally It was something like that anyway. I saw some on ebay advertised as chatty sally last year. Not to be confused with the large talking Chatty cathy dolls!

I bought these two dolls in the 70s for my daughter - they were brilliant. Why doesn't anyone see these sense in making them again. Does anyone remember the Disney pull string clock that spoke in the character's voice when you pointed to a particular hour? No batteries needed in these types of toys. I hope Disney or some other toymakers read these memories.

I still have my doll and bring her out to share with friends just to get a good laugh. She has lost her dress but is still in good shape. Does anyone know what they are worth?

I just found my talking head doll in the attic two days ago. I never forgot all the sayings 'are you silly too' 'atchoo what' 'I can sit in your pocket' etc the sound is very crackly now and she's lost her dress, but I'd love it if they made them again so I could get one for my own daughter.
