Spitting Image

Fiercely satirical comedy puppet show of the 80s and 90s. Spitting Image used latex puppets to caricature just about any celebrity of the time. The humour was razor sharp - if somewhat rude and poked fun at the government, celebrities and anyone else that got in the way.

The TV show was so popular that they actually reached number one in the UK record charts with a song from the show "The Chicken Song". If I remember rightly the lyrics went something like: "Throw a chicken in the air, stick a deckchair up your nose, Buy a Jumbo Jet, and then bury all your clothes. Paint your left knee green, then extract your wisdom teeth, form a string quartet, and pretend your name is Keith..."

    There was a cracking sketch with a wildbeest that was trying to explain that they weren't just lion fodder for David Attenborough to film, just before he gets eaten by a lion. Brilliant and sorely missed (although 2DTV's not bad)
