Sour Sour Jokers

WOW! These blue and yellow, rectangular-shaped, hard sweets were THE most dangerously sour things ever imaginable. SERIOUSLY. They cost a mere 5p each, I believe. Sucking one melted the skin off your tongue. Curiously though (baring that in mind), they became my favourite, most cherished childhood sweet and fondest memory ever! At the time (early 90s) in the North-east of England the sweet reached somewhat mythical status as most kids doubted their very existence, since few had witnessed them with their own eyes. Did they even exist we considered? Well, all doubts were extinguished from my mind, when my little old nana tracked down the fabled sweet one memorable Saturday afternoon. What a blast! I finally got to experience the menacingly sour sweet the older kids had been telling us about and I was in no way disappointed! Can anyone remember these deadly beauties? I think they were discontinued due to health concerns around them.

Long live the legend of the Sour Sour Joker!

Yes I had these too circa 1993 I believe. Our local newsagents had them in stock for ages, they were 5p and lethal! We had bets to see who could fit the most in their mouth at any one time, I think the most was 3, for about 2 seconds. You could get green, blue, yellow, red but I think they tasted the same! Brilliant sweets!!!
