Smax were oval savoury biscuit snacks similar to Fish'n'Chips. I think there may have been about three flavours. Chicken comes to mind but my favourite was smoked bacon. I can just remember watching Top Of The Pops, sucking the flavour off the biscuit before chewing it. Aah to be six again! They did come in chicken flavour but also salt and vinegar and the bacon. The best way to eat them was to suck the flavour off and then chew the biscuit. The snack window at school sold these. Wish they'd bring them back

    Smax!! I though I was the only one to remember them. If memory serves you could get them in multi packs...I loved them, really strong flavour and they made you dry as a bone. Would have been great to eat with a beer but sadly they were long gone before I reached drinking age. And they call it progress ffs!

    OMG I so remember having these as a kid in primary school for snack time! Maybe we should all email burtons to get them to bring them out again! Such happy memories just from a savoury biscuit snack lol

    I remember back at school in the 80’s we could buy them for 5p from the tuck shop, sometimes kids walk round the playground with an open packet and ask you if you wanted a smax and if you said yes you’d get a “smack” round the face, I never did learn to say no.

    I loved smax as a kid and fish n chips. Girlfriend discovered the bacon oddities a while back. This week I went to tescos and next to the bacon flavour oddities was ...... chicken flavour, I got so excited, we road tested them last night, and they are like the the chicken flavour smax, both flavours were on special and you could get two packs for a pound each.

    I loved the Smokey Bacon Smax. They were fab. I have been searching for them for years even in the retro sweet shops but alas I have been unable to find any. If anyone does find where I can purchase one I would be grateful to hear from you.

    Reading this makes me want a pack of the chicken flavour Smax...who were they made by?? I only ever remember seeing them in the school tuckshop around 1980 but never saw them anywhere else...
