Shoestring

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Trevor Eve was Eddie Shoestring, a dishevelled radio detective in this popular show. Eddie Shoestring had been a former mental health casualty, (I think he'd had some sort of breakdown) and wasn't exactly your run of the mill private eye.

I enjoyed this series, mainly because it was set in and around Somerset. My part of the world. Trevor Eve wasn't so bad either, very slim and with a moustache, if I recall correctly.

'Shoestring' had terrific scripts, a fine supporting cast, a catchy theme tune, great locations, and most important of all - the priceless Trevor Eve.

I liked it as it was well written and at a time when we had a young son and shift work made staying in pleasant and worthwhile

Used to watch Shoestring all the time, and the reruns when I could. They keep giving release dates for the DVD, then no DVD , and now all has gone quiet so I guess I'll never see it. Sad because most of the locations in and around Bristol in my late teens early 20s and very familiar to me. Sadly now i'm in the United States it seems I'll never get to see this again.
