Shang-A-Lang

Childrens TV Show of the mid 1970s. Featuring the popular (at the time) pop group Bay City Rollers. The name of the show comes from one of The Bay City Rollers' many hits. Shang-A-Lang featured pop stars of the day strutting their stuff, linked with The Rollers telling jokes and speaking to their guests.

The Bay City Rollers were a band from Scotland. They were easily recognisable by their trousers stopping short of their ankles, with tartan turn ups. Their popularity raised the image of tartan to it being cool enough for teenagers to wear. Scary really!
