Rigadoon Gang

The Rigadoon Gang were a range of male and female dolls in various sizes and all with different names.

The largest dolls were huge and had a hole in the back of their head so that you could your hand inside and make their mouth move with your fingers (creepy). They also had similar devices on the back of their hands so you could make their fingers move (even creepier).

The girl with long red/brown hair is Rusty. She was Joe's "girlfriend". Her hair was tied up in high pigtails with yellow ribbons. There was also Patty, she had orange/brown hair with a blue hair and. Patty was not one of the original seven.

I still have mine, her name is Alison, she has blonde hair. I got her one Christmas from my nana, after asking her for a ventriloquist doll!

When it came to dolls and toys, my sister was always the more adventurous one: she'd watch a TV commercial for a new toy, and if she liked it, she'd want it! Me, I was (and still am) more traditional: I stuck to my pretty and/or cute dolls, and what I call "suburbia" playsets (ie dollhouses, treehouses, etc). Rigadoon was one such toy. When my sister came home with her, I remember being fascinated - but in a horrified kind of way! I thought, wow, that doll's so UGLY! My sister's Rigadoon was called Alison, and she had long blonde hair made of wool. Alison was part doll, part puppet, and my sister loved to make her special doll "talk" and "gesture." I can appreciate the play value of this doll now, but back in the day, I'd NEVER have played with a Rigadoon if not for my sister!
