Raleigh Bomber

I found a Raleigh Bomber on eBay a couple of weeks ago and bought it there and then!

I had had one as a lad and it was my pride and joy. I took it everywhere I went, even on holidays.

I remember asking my mother months before Christmas to buy me one but she said they were too expensive. I had tears in my eyes when I woke up on christmas day to find she had got me one.

Sadly I used the Raleigh Bomber so much I ended up snapping the frame in half.

So as soon as I found this one on eBay I just had to have it!

I had 3 of these before my mother refused to replace it. They were bought from her catalogue and the forks kept going. She was sure I was doing things on it I shouldn't have been. I wasn't!! Not as tough as it looked (or was advertised to be)!!

Your bike my friend, do as you wish. A lot of the board trackers have been changed to cruisres now with wide cow horn/motorcross style bars

Hi. I bought a bomber when I was a student in 1988. I loved it to bits, and used it constantly, but ended up snapping the frame near the headstock in 1991. I'd love to find one at a reasonable price/ perchance build one up, but am not having any success in doing so. Could you help me find a complete one, or the parts required? I want to ride it for old times sake, and hand it on to my son when he's older. Thanks Kieran

prefer the black bomber. is it a crime to scrape off that blue plastic that doesnt stay on anyway, revealing the chrome, which isnt great chrome , and spraying it black. putting search light decals. oh yes. i have a vintage brooks seat and some chrome schwinn forks. bomberman. is this bad. shall i just keep it as it is.

I had a chrome blue bomber about 1983, great for wheelies but the forks were as bent as boy george. This occured after letting a mate have a shot on it. He was so distracted by a local tart he had a fixation with he ran into the back of a parked transit van at a very high rate of knots. oh how I laughed as he went over the bars and kicked the roof with his heels. Didn't laugh so hard when I saw the state of my bike afterwards though, but the look on his face as he tried to smile at the lady he adored and realised he lost his teeth was priceless. Memories.

I had a new Bomber for Christmas, '82 as I remember. I was 10 years old and it was the first bike I ever managed to wheelie properly... form the local shops, all the way up past the library! S'funny reading stories of broken forks... as mine broke too after about 3 months! Had it until Christmas '84 when I got a new Mag Burner... white with black Simplex mags, the back one of which broke after 3 weeks lol! Happy days... :-)
