Ragdolly Anna

Ragdolly Anna was Anne Wood's experiment with new ways of storytelling on television which were influenced by her own daughter's love for a special rag doll. These experiments led Anne to adapt the book 'Ragdolly Anna' by Jean Kenward into a television drama for young children. The Little Dressmaker was Pat Coombs. This was a programme that Anne Wood made when she was working for Yorkshire Television.

The huge following that developed for Ragdolly Anna first gave Anne Wood an inkling of the gap between younger children's needs and the provision of good television for them.

I recall an episode where Ragdolly Anna fell down a grate and was trapped under the street for ages. It was, frankly, terrifying.

Ragdolly Anna was a TV programme that I used to watch when I was quite young. The programme was about a little Rag Doll (Ragdolly Anna) who lived in a top floor block of flats with a dress-maker. She used to venture out into the world and have exciting adventures.
