Petite Typewriter

I have always remembered the Christmas I got my typewriter. I really, really wanted it but was told (as I've told my children since) "sorry it costs too much and Santa hasn't got enough pennies!

The year was1967.I opened all my prezzies and no typewriter. Then I was sent to the kitchen to have breakfast, and in the walk in pantry was... my typewriter in its yellow leatherette case!

I was the happiest girl alive, and by all accounts the most annoying with the constant tap, tap, tap on the keyboard! I still have my typewriter, although the ribbon has worn out!

Am I the only guy here who had a Petite Typewriter. I got it about 64 and I loved it. In fact, I learned to touch type on it, something I can still do now that I am an old dude of 55!

I recently fitted with slight modification an alternative from a Seiko typewriter to my Daughters old one for my Granddaughter. Seems to work OK. If you would like more details please contact me on c-bournemouth@tiscali.co.uk or look on ebay uk for a 'Seiko Silver Reed Silverette Typewriter Ribbon', can be modified to fit by drilling a hole on the right side, fit pin to suit spool and drivespool is not a perfect fit but it does work. Needs to chomp away the plastic on the spool cover. Job done!

I'm a primary school teacher and have just taken my Petite 990 typewriter in for my Year 2 class to have a play with...very carefully of course - I must have had it for about 30 years and it wasn't new when I got it!

I can remember getting a petite 990 in the 80's for my christmas. I loved playing with it. And then unfortunately I dropped it one day and that was the end of that!
