Ladybird Books

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

Learning to read with Peter and Jane (not forgetting Pat the dog!). Ladybird books were a mainstay of me and my sisters childhood - the artwork looks so retro chic now.

Hi Scouttie, you can find hundreds of ladybird books on ebay. I have quite a collection now all from there, Chez.

The thing I loved most about old Ladybird books was the smell! Can't really describe it - sort of old and dusty.

Heaven is a Ladybird scene. Mother baking in the kitchen, Father smoking a pipe by the fireside after a hard day at the office, children coming in from the flower filled, manicured garden or an adventure with their pals, pat the dog obediently by their side. The warm glow of a setting sun and time for bed in eager anticipation of the next idylic days adventure.
