Flying Saucers

Flying Saucers were one of my favourite sweets as a small child. They consisted of two circles of rice-paper (or something similar) in bright colours, with sherbet powder inside. There were several techniques for eating them: you could let them sit in your mouth until the paper disolved, and the sherbet trickled onto your tongue; you could bite a small hole in one side and shake the sherbet into your mouth; or you could take a big bite, which had an interesting feeling of the different textures.

I think I could get about 4 for a penny, which was pretty good for someone not allowed to spend more than 10p a week on sweets. Happily, I can occasionally find Flying Saucers in Toronto, though I think I pay anything up to 25c each! Definitely worth it though and, of course, I can spend as much as I like on sweets/candy now :-)

I used to love these! I can still get them in Asda here in the UK.

Yeah, they were pretty good, I have not seen them in quite a while though I know they are still available here too.
