Enigma

German Electronic project's debut album "MCMXC a.D." was released in 1990 to huge commercial success. The music included Gregorian chants and sexual overtones mixed with a dance beat that was different to the music heard at that time and is still widely listened to today.

Enigma's music has featured in a wide range of films and TV work including 'Sliver', 'Single White Female', 'Cold Case' & 'Charlie's Angels'.

It's amazing how often Enigma gets played in background of TV shows and films. So many people would recognize Engima music is they heard it. The album covers for any Enigma are made up of astonishing, innovative Steampunk Art by Johann Zambryski's. This was in the early 90's before most people knew what Steampunk even was! It completely blends in with the music being a mixture of old Opera, Latin chanting merged with modern day synthesizer. No they have nothing, whatsoever to with Klu Klux Klan! As for their music and videos, it's filled with hidden meanings, symbolism, Religious imagery and dark themes. How many electronic songs are intelligent enough to contain quotes from William Blake? The best album by far Le Roi Est Mort Vive le Roi.

You sure they were German? I thought they were French.... I remember a promo poster for them where they were all wearing pointed Ku Klux Klan-type hoods that completely covered their heads.
