Nick Nolte plays Jerry Baskin, a down and out in Beverley Hills in this comedy from 1986. At Thanksgiving Jerry tries to end his life by drowning in the swimming pool of a big house. The wealthy owner, Dave Whiteman (Richard Dreyfuss), saves him and brings him in to the family home to look after him.
Although they are wealthy, the Whiteman family are dysfunctional and tensions soon arise with their new guest in the house.
Also stars Bette Midler as yoga obsessed Barbara Whiteman.
