Doctor Who figures (Dapol)

From the late Eighties to around the mid-2000s, Wales-based firm Dapol produced a fine series of action figures based on characters from the BBC series Doctor Who. Much-mocked by many fans for occasional inaccuracies - TARDIS console (initially) with five panels, not six; Davros (initially) with two hands, not one - these were personally my Christmas present of the year in 1993 and formed the basis of many self-penned Doctor Who adventures thereafter. The key figures were originally: Fourth Doctor Seventh Doctor (grey or brown jacket) Ace Mel (pink or blue top) K9 TARDIS police box with flashing blue light, which opened into a TARDIS playset providing walls for your: TARDIS console with moving column Seven different colours of Dalek plus one film Dalek Cyberman Ice Warrior Tetrap Later additions included a Third Doctor, a Sontaran, a Sea Devil, Time Lords, the Master and more Daleks. Following Doctor Who's revival, new figures made by other firms came on the scene and the older Dapol ones were phased out. Dapol was based at the Deeside Mill at Llangollen, North Wales and for a time, also housed an excellent Doctor Who exhibition with full-size TARDIS console room and Bessie. They were best known for making model railways. Sadly, the mill seems to have disappeared now and given way to yet more housing development.
