Dino Riders

The coolest christmas present I ever got was a Rulon Triceratops Dino Rider. It was battery operated and came with a video and three Rulon Crew.

The plot of the TV show revolved around a space fight that went horribly wrong. The humans under the rule of Questar crash landed on a prehistoric planet trying to avoid the Rulon empire (made up of three or four evil races) headed by Krulos. To cut a long story short, both groups are stranded and use their technology to equip dinosaurs with kick ass lazer cannons. However the Dino Riders Were a little like new age hippies and the dinosaurs they used didn't mind being beasts of burden. The Rulon Empire however used helmets to restrain them, like mind control.

Its a typical story of good v evil and how technology can be abused, unlike todays shows which teach kids to make animals fight in tournaments, I tell ya what happened to innocent youth lol. This show was awsome though was never on UK TV, and the range of figures was huge but alas, they are hard to find and expensive when you do.

Though I'm a girl I LOVED these toys! The action figures were the best. They were the perfect size for playing with other toys and making up my own story lines. I loved all the articulation points of the limbs, they made them easier to play with.

Wow it has been a long time since I watched this show. I had two or three tapes of it. This was one of the coolest things I watched as a child. I used to play for hours with the action figures even though peices kept falling off, but it was worth it. The only thing I didn't like as a child was that the 'cool' dinos were taken by the evil guys (T-Rex, Triceratops, Velociraptor,..) while the wimpy dinos made up the majority of the good guy's force (diplodocus, and the type of triceratops with no forward facing horns). A great grab for any child. Now going to look for my old tapes.

I remember my brother had a vast majority of the toy line. I believe he recieved a VHS tape with the first cartoon on it. The story line was pretty interesting. I miss my youth!!!
