Adverts ADVERTS

Cookeen Advert

This Memory is looking a little short on nostalgia! Have you got anything you could add?

"Give em a lift,...ahah, with Cookeen". I'm not sure what Cookeen actually was but I remember it was used for baking. In the advert the perfect housewife/mother had baked the cakes or scones and then once the kids/Dad had eaten them they appeared to levitate. Maybe she got the stuff in Amsterdam!

Hi, My friend John Carroll was in an advert for Cookeen in the early 70's. He filmed it at Pinewood Studios. He went to St Joseph's Primary School on Mackin street in Covent Garden. We have been trying to find the advert, but no luck. Does anybody know where we can find it, or remembers John.

I think Cookeen was a kind of lard. Some sort of baking fat anyway.

Remember this ad with its catchphrase - "Give 'em a lift, oooh, with Cookeen" and a boy in the choir rose at the back as if he was rising with suet!!
